A light-hearted and truly funny STAR TREK-ish parody - this one is a fun way to blow (hee-hee) a half-hour.

How could you not want to see a film titled GAYN!GGERS FROM OUTER SPACE? I'd like to thank one of my sources for dropping this obscure little film on my doorstep - I may not have heard of it otherwise. If the title offends you, stay away cause it gets worse and it won't redeem itself.

If the title intrigues you, watch it just for curiosity sake. It's only 25 minutes long and not worth any amount of money to watch. It's good for maybe a chuckle or two, but nothing beyond that. This is not Oscar quality material, but I had to smile at a few parts that were just so wrong (like the Asian women being overdubbed with someone just squealing unintelligibly into a microphone). How anyone can get offended is beyond me. The budget and quality is no better than a student film. The whole film is basically a joke, from the horrendous dubbing to the tinfoil set pieces.

At least this movie isn't serious about it's political incorrectness. Some 50's film has similar, racist content and it is called "camp", but some film is made years later parodying that genre by being blatant about it, and it is labeled racist. It's a parody of those awful porno films from the 70's (back when they tried to have plots) and also those terrible, xenophobic sci-fi films in the 50's. Okay, people come on this site and comment that it is sexist, racist (especially towards Asians) and homophobic.

I don't know how to explain why, but I think this is a must-see film for almost everyone. If you can get your hands on a copy, do so. It's funny, if only in an irreverent way. After three viewings (the film is less than thirty minutes) I am still unclear on the way to take this one, and will likely be unclear for some time. Which makes this one even more of an enigma. And what to make of it being foreign (Danish)? Does the intent and humor translate well? I can't say for sure. so there's definitely some knowledgeable film historians behind this one. But is it racist or homophobic if it glorifies homosexuality and stars black men? And what of some of the more clever, subtle humor and homages? The name itself is a take on "Grave Diggers From Outer Space", the original title of "Plan 9 From Outer Space". So it can be dismissed as just a racist and homophobic movie. On one hand, it's mostly notorious because of the name and not so much for the content of the film. The plot really sums it up, but the question is exactly whether or not the film is even good. It is rather difficult to explain this film. So they devise a plan to land on earth and liberate the men from their female overlords. That perspective is much easier than trying to fit everyone into categories or trying to fit in with whoever.A group of aliens (who happen to be homosexual and appear to be of African descent) approach earth, horrified to find it populated with not only males but also females. And within that spectrum everyone has their own sexualities, their own dimensions, their own preferences, their own experiences or non-experiences with fluidity or questioning or contradictions, their own place in the gender, sexual, affection, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum. That’s why as I got older I realized that at least 30% of the population is probably in the queer spectrum.

Yet, most “bi presenting” folks refuse to call out their messiness or any other “bi presenting” people’s messiness. But “bi culture” can be just as toxic as anything else, especially online: labeling folks “bi” when they don’t embrace that identity, having to prove your “bi-ness” to other bi-presenting folks because you don’t have sex and/or relationships with multiple sexes/genders, altering your identity or lying about your dimensions based on your social group or who you’re trying to appeal to, folks getting pissy when some non-problematic people don’t wish to fully embrace a bi identity any longer, being hetero-leaning and hetero-commitment but constantly using “queers” for money and ego and social media gains, the percentage of homophobia, femme-phobic, masculine insecurities, toxic masculinity, homo inferiority perspectives being just as high among bi-presenting folks as gay-presenting folks if not higher. Some of these memes definitely have some truth.
